Developing a new generation of talent

Jack joined the Joice and Hill Hatchery Team in September 2018 as a full time hatchery apprentice. His appointment represents a first step towards achieving our objective of bringing young talent into the sector.

Here he describes his experience so far: “I used to work in a call centre for pensions and it was not satisfying for me. As poultry has been a long term passion, I searched online for poultry jobs. “I like many things about my job such as the job satisfaction of ensuring the quality of the chicks leaving the hatchery for our customers. My goal in the future is to work myself up the ladder and to build up my responsibilities while gaining experience in the industry”.

“I would also like to thank the hatchery staff at Joice and Hill for putting a lot of their time and resources into ensuring that I gain as much experience as I can during my apprenticeship”.
