Bovans Brown Achieves the Highest Egg Income in NCSU Performance Tests

North Carolina State University (NCSU) has published the results of its 41st annual layer performance and management test.

The researchers evaluated egg production, feed consumption, mortality rates, egg quality and overall hen performance.

Among the brown, cage-free housed birds, the Bovans demonstrated the highest FCR at 0.469. The Bovans laid the most eggs per hen housed at 456.68 with a 77.66% hen-day production rate, with a high mortality ratee of 2.31%.

The Bovans achieved the highest egg income at US$100.14 per hen and had the lowest feed cost at US$26.91.
