Joice and Hill Appoint New Technical/Sales Manager for Scotland and North West England

Hendrix Genetics Layer Division has appointed Richard McGillvary as it’s new Technical/Sales Manager for Scotland and North West England. Known to friends and colleagues as Dick, he has been involved with poultry for over 27 years. However, his early career was as an analytical chemist in Maltings for Ballantines Scotch Whisky, where he spent 15 years. After a brief spell with Panmure Grain Company Dick made a career move into the poultry sector, where he has remained ever since.

Joining Noble Foods (formerly Daylay Foods and then Deans Foods) in 1989 as an Assistant Farm Manager Dick progressed to Farm Manager, Fieldsman, and finally Area Production Manager for the Thornton Region, managing 33 poultry units over 7 laying farms.

Following a move to Highland Feather Fresh Ltd, an independent free range egg producer, in 2012, Dick assisted them in the expansion of the business to 97,000 free range layers supported by a 33000 rearing facility.

Away from the world of work Dick, who was Junior Scottish Accordion Champion at the age of 15 years is still a keen amateur musician playing the piano accordion, ‘badly’ he claims - Scottish music of course!

“Dick’s practical and managerial knowledge of intensive and free range systems will ensure he provides the highest levels of technical support to our customers in Scotland and the North” says Joice and Hill’s Sales Director, Peter Cumbers, “However, we are not sure whether the accordion goes with him on sales visits!”
